Italy is well-known for its
richest regions filled with culture, amazing landscapes, kind people, old
architecture and so many other attractions. It is a country where you do not
get bored to visit over and over again and travelers all around the world are
amazed by its wonderful sceneries. If you are passionate about architecture,
food, culture, meeting new people, this is the perfect place to come. All Italy
is beautiful, we will direct our attention to the south part of country, more
specifically to Bari city and surroundings.
Aspects of the city: night
scene, people, shops, beaches
As soon as you land in Bari, you
feel the peaceful energy coming from its inhabitants and this feeling is
getting more and more bigger once you meet and talk to them. The expression
which describes them best is in Italian “no te preocupare”. What ever happens
in Bari, you do not need to worry as always you will find a solution. Even the
most anxious person can feel safe and relaxed while living here. At night, the
city is animated with many people who wander the streets in searching for
restaurants to eat, buying clothing, bags and shoes from brand shops, such as
Louis Vuitton, Gucci and others.
If you are fond of architecture,
then the Old City of Bari is the best place to be. Here you can visit Basilica
San Nicola, Catedral basílica de San Sabino, museums and other churches. The
Port of Bari is close and a nice place to walk in the night. During summer, if
you want to get tanned, then the 2 beaches are the best choices: Pane e
Pomodoro and Spiaggia Torre Quetta. The cristal clear water of the Adriatic Sea
is quite inviting people to take a good swim and to enjoy it for the longest
time possible.
If you come to Bari, you must try
pizza, pasta, seafood and their expresso or at least a cup of cappuccino. One
aspect to which you need to pay attention to when going to a restaurant is the
carta fee or percentage. Each restaurant applies a different carta so you need
to look for it on the menu and when you pay, the tip must be included.
The streets are small, crowded, a
lot of traffic lights, having many scooters, cars and shops. You will not get
lost even if you want to! Trust me, I tried with no luck!
Nearby cities
If you are bored of visiting
Bari, you may always choose the most picturesque cities nearby: Matera, Lecce,
Polignano a Mare, Alberobello. Matera was European Capital of Culture in 2019
and it is quite a beauty with its rocky houses near ravines, Sissi colins and
narrow streets. The old city is in UNESCO patrimony from 1993 and it enchants
you from your very first step. Polignano a Mare surprises with its beach which
can be seen from a belvedere point called Lungomare where the Adriatic Sea
wraps around its waves the shore of the city. There is no surprise that the
city is considered one of the most romantic ones.
Another important attraction is
Alberobello with the tulli white small houses, narrow streets and beautiful
people.
Everyone should visit Italy, at
least once in a lifetime. The southern part is magical and wonderful, with its
small cities, relaxed people, having an air as from another world. It is a must
see!
